Kerrville Fire Department
Although Saddlewood Estates is not within the boundaries of the City of Kerrville, the Kerrville Fire Department is the first responder to our neighborhood for calls to 9-1-1 regarding structure or brush fires. Other local volunteer fire departments will be called in as needed. In addition, the Kerrville Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the county.

Burn Procedure
* Always check to see if the burn ban is in effect for Precinct 4. The burn ban hotline is 830-792-4328. The burn ban can be lifted, and then reinstated more than once in a 24 hour period. So even if you checked in the morning, re-check if you don’t start your burn until the afternoon.
* Always notify the Kerr County Sheriff’s office using their non-emergency number: 830-896-1216. They will list your address as the site of a controlled burn. This will prevent them from sending the fire department to your property and possibly fining you. Of course, if it becomes uncontrolled, you call 911 immediately.
* The SEOA does not approve or disapprove of controlled burns on your property. Please notify any of the Board members or a member of the AAC that you are conducting a controlled burn. That way we know not to call 911.
* Locate your burn pile a safe distance from all structures and standing timber, yours and your neighbors'. Where possible locate your brush pile to minimize its visibility from the road.
* Before you start your burn, make sure you have enough water hose connected and in position to reach your burn pile and at least 10 yards beyond.
* Use your common sense. Even if the burn ban is lifted, that does not mean it’s safe to start a burn. Keep your eye on the wind direction and strength. Also watch the relative humidity. Multiple small brush piles are easier to control than one big one.
